Present situation in Germany (January 2012)

In 2011, a massive appearance of Diabrotica was recorded in Baden-Württemberg. A total of 6121 beetles (6119 beetles in the containment zone, 2 beetles in an eradication zone) were captured. As in the year before, especially the administrative districts Emmendingen, Ortenaukreis and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald were highly affected. Due to a first capture of a beetle in a pheromone trap in the administrative district Rastatt, the containment zone had to be increased.

Altogether, 174 beetles (173 beetles in the containment zone, 1 beetle in an eradication zone) were caught in Bavaria. The containment zone around the administrative districts Rosenheim and Ebersberg had to be increased.

After the first appearance of Diabrotica was reported in 2010, no beetle was captured in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2011.

In 2011, two further federal states reported the appearance of Diabrotica beetles. Overall, 354 beetles were captured in Hesse (administrative district Groß-Gerau) and one beetle was captured in a pheromone trap in Rhineland-Palatinate (administrative district Mainz-Bingen). Eradication measures were immediately started.
